I took a little vacation from blogging (blogcation ?) and so much has happened that I’m just going to mention some things you probably already know about but I’ll mention anyway in case this blog is your only source of news and information, as it should be.
The Blazers went on a 13 game winning streak. They lost to the Jazz (a team I still hate from the Stockton Malone days) and have now won two more. 15-1 since a really bad start of the season. And now they’re tied with Denver for the Northwest conference.
As a guy who grew up with the promise of Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter and Jerome Kersey, I’m psyched to see the Blazers in a position to win a national championship. They’re the youngest team in the NBA and they don’t even have their #1 draft pick playing this year. I’m hoping for a dynasty in the making.
Okay, you don’t care about sports?
Perhaps you’ve heard of this young, up-and-coming politician named Barack Obama. At first, I thought he was Irish (it’s not O’Bama) but apparently he’s not. Okay, joking aside, I’m really happy he won in Iowa because I really didn’t want Clinton to win. I loved the Clinton years, felt it was a sham Bill got impeached for much less than Bush has done, but we need new blood in the Whitehouse. No more Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton mentality. If that kept going, we’d have Jenna Bush in eight years and Chelsea eight years after that. So if you live in New Hampshire, please vote for Obama tomorrow. If he wins, it will be due to the support of this blog.
This was the one story I wish I had covered when it happened. I don’t really care about Britney’s meltdown and stories like that, but when regular people do crazy shit, I can’t get enough. If you don’t know, here’s the rundown:
A former beauty queen has been accused of kidnapping, biting and threatening a former boyfriend with a handgun.
Law school student Kumari Fulbright, 25, faces a long prison sentence if convicted of kidnapping, armed robbery, aggravated robbery and two counts of aggravated assault.
Fulbright, who competed for the Miss Arizona title in 2005 and 2006, features in a 2008 calendar in which bikini-clad women pose with guns. She recently completed a stint working for a federal judge.
She is accused of holding and torturing her 24-year-old ex-boyfriend in early December with the help of three other men.
Is she really a beauty queen if she only competed for Miss Arizona? Arizona is now competing with Florida for the mecca of crazy whack-jobs.
Here’s hoping 2008 has plenty more Blazers, Obama and crazy people.
