The Year of the Vice President

I’m going to go out on a limb and predict that Barack Obama and John McCain will be the Democratic and Republican nominees for this year’s Presidential election.

Their choices for Vice President take on an urgency unlike previous elections.

Many people fear assassination attempts on Obama.  The U.S. doesn’t have a good history when it comes to black leaders promoting change.  So people will be closely examining whoever he chooses as VP.

It’s not a joke to say McCain is old since he’s pushing the average life expectancy for a white male.  So people will be closely examining whoever he chooses as VP.

So will McCain choose Huckabee as his running mate?  Condi Rice?  Dick Cheney?

Will Obama pick Edwards, Richardson, Clinton, or Oprah Winfrey?

I’m looking forward to how these picks will play out.  Where’s the Vegas odds makers when you need them?  Oh, here.
